With Gaylord you are buying direct from a manufacturer, eliminating layers
of distribution costs. Compare our prices with the big box stores but don't be
fooled by imitations. Our quality is second to none. Only the boards that
will make the finest floors are sent to the factory to be ripped and milled into
solid 3/4" flooring. Our microgrooves are very small which make them housekeeper
friendly. (Beware of large grooves as they only collect dirt)
After the
boards are graded, they go through the automated pre-finishing line. During this
process, the boards receive a 10 coat U.V. cured finish containing titanium. Titanium crystals in the polyurethane give the flooring the clearest most durable & most scratch resistant finish available. The product is inspected, then packaged into easy to handle 20 square foot
boxes. Allow only 3% for waste. Compare that to 10% waste suggested by other sources.
The
trees are cut from managed forests in Ontario. The logs produced are made
into lumber by sawmills in Ontario. The lumber is carefully kiln dried in
Ontario. The lumber is milled into flooring and finished in Ontario. When
purchasing our product you are supporting local loggers, foresters, sawmills,
garages, dry kilns, paper mills, truckers, flooring plant employees, and many
more indirect jobs.

"We are Big Enough to do the Job but Small Enough to Care"
| Why
Buy Gaylord Pre-finished Pine Flooring? | | 1. | You
could find yourself paying by the lineal foot, not by the square foot. For example,
if you buy a 1 x 4 dressed to 3 ¼" wide at a retail yard, you are
paying for a full 4", which is almost 20% more.
The Bottom Line With our floors, you can calculate the square footage
of your room, allowing 3-5% for waste, and order your floor. No surprises.
| | 2. |
Our pine is kiln dried properly to 6-8% moisture content. In white pine, the
gum doesn't crystallize until 6-8%. Many suppliers call their pine dry but it
generally is only between 10-14%.
The Bottom Line Floors with higher moisture content develop large spaces
between the boards that never go away. Our flooring may develop slight separations
during winter months when the air is dry, but will return back during the humid
spring months. | | 3. | Our ten-coat UV finish, with titanium,
is very durable and the clearest most scratch resistant finish available. Our satin
finish is a 30% gloss, which does not magnify the dents that may occur, due to
pine's softer nature. The stains applied during the pre-finishing stage are very
consistent and even. Our first coat is a sealer that helps prevent the gum from
reaching the surface. The sanding is perfect. There are no planer marks or tears
in the wood fiber. It would generally take a professional five days to sand and
finish a pine floor. The gum and knots make sanding and finishing very difficult.
The vibration from the job site sanding may loosen knots causing them to fall
out. This creates a huge problem, as these boards would need to be replaced.

The Bottom Line
Would it make sense to buy a brand new car unpainted
and take it to a body shop or paint it yourself because you thought you were saving
money? |
| 4. |
Our ends are precision cut, tongue-and-grooved. The flooring from a retail
yard has rough sawn ends that would have to be trimmed manually with a saw. Installers
can lay a floor very quickly if ends are square and straight. They can become
very impatient and expensive when they encounter unexpected surprises. |
| |
The Bottom Line An installer with a helper can lay 800' to 1000' of our
5" flooring per day. | | 5. |
Our products are grown and produced here in Ontario. When purchasing our pine
flooring, you are supporting the softwood industry in Canada, which has been struggling
with a 27% duty on U.S. shipments.
The Very Bottom Line We are good honest people who will work hard for
your business and keep the jobs at home. Help your neighbour and be a friend |
